Community Guidelines

Last updated: October 29, 2026

Türkçe

This English version is a translation provided for convenience. The Turkish original is the legally binding text; in the event of any discrepancy, the Turkish version prevails.

GymA was designed as a place where athletes record their progress and motivate each other. We wrote these guidelines to build a community where everyone feels safe. Everyone who uses the social features must follow these guidelines. The Community Guidelines form an integral part of the Terms of Use; a violation of them is deemed a breach of the Terms.

Summary: Be respectful. Only share content you have the right to share. Don't harm anyone through their body, health or safety. If in doubt, don't post it.

1. Core Principles

  • Respect: Disagreement is normal; insults, humiliation and harassment are not.
  • Authenticity: Be yourself. Don't impersonate anyone else or create fake accounts.
  • Consent: Don't share other people's photos, videos or personal information without their permission.
  • Responsibility: When giving fitness advice, don't make definitive claims in areas where you are not an expert.

2. Prohibited Content

2.1 Child Protection

Any content relating to the sexual abuse of children is strictly prohibited. When such content is detected, the account is closed immediately and permanently, and the content is preserved and reported to the competent authorities. Content containing innuendo aimed at sexualizing minors also falls within this scope. GymA is for users aged 18 and over.

2.2 Sexual Content and Nudity

Pornographic content, depictions of sexual acts and requests for or offers of sexual services are prohibited. Fitness photos taken in workout clothing (e.g. body progress tracking, "progress" photos) are acceptable; however, content intended to be sexually suggestive, that emphasizes intimate areas or that is openly obscene will be removed. Sharing non-consensual intimate images ("revenge porn") is a serious violation and results in permanent account closure.

2.3 Violence, Hate and Harassment

  • Calls for violence, threats, terrorist propaganda and content glorifying violence;
  • Hate speech and discrimination based on race, ethnic origin, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability or illness;
  • Targeted intimidation, persistent harassment and organizing mass attacks;
  • Disclosing a person's private information, such as their address, phone number or ID, without their consent;
  • Sending unwanted sexual messages.

All of the above are prohibited.

2.4 Self-Harm and Eating Disorders

Content that encourages, glorifies or gives instructions for suicide, self-harm or eating disorders is prohibited. In particular, the following are not allowed: presenting extreme calorie restriction as a goal, sharing "zero calorie" or starvation challenges, recommending compensatory behaviors such as vomiting or laxative use, and spreading content that presents extreme thinness as an ideal. Supportive posts in which people describe their own recovery are outside the scope of this prohibition. If you are going through a difficult time, please reach out to a health professional; in Türkiye, you can call the 112 Emergency Call Center.

2.5 Health Misinformation, Doping and Illegal Products

  • Selling, supplying or encouraging the use of prescription drugs, anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing substances;
  • Trading in narcotics, weapons, forged documents and other illegal products;
  • Promises of treatment without scientific basis, and health claims such as "cures disease";
  • Presenting dangerous diet protocols or unverified supplements as if they were medical advice.

All of the above are prohibited. You may share your fitness experience, but you may not present it as medical advice.

2.6 Impersonation and Misleading Accounts

Using someone else's name, photo or brand to pretend to be that person is prohibited. Parody and fan accounts must clearly state that they are such accounts on their profile.

2.7 Spam, Fraud and Artificial Engagement

  • Bulk or automated messages, comments or follows; use of bots;
  • Buying and selling followers, likes or comments;
  • Pyramid or Ponzi schemes, fake campaigns and fraud attempts;
  • Links that direct users to malicious sites;
  • Cluttering the feed with irrelevant content or posting the same content repeatedly.

2.8 Intellectual Property Infringement

You may not share photos, videos, music, workout programs or texts that do not belong to you without the rights holder's permission. For the copyright infringement notice process, see the relevant section of the Terms of Use.

3. Rules Specific to the Fitness Community

  • No body shaming. No one may make degrading comments about anyone's weight, body shape or performance. Humiliating content may not be shared under the guise of "motivation".
  • Your own progress, not comparison. Mocking another user's measurement or statistics data is prohibited.
  • No encouraging dangerous technique. Do not present form errors that will clearly lead to injury, or the disabling of safety measures, as a challenge.
  • Trainer content. If you offer paid coaching or sell programs, clearly state the nature of the service you provide and any certification you hold; do not guarantee health outcomes.

4. Event Rules

Because events lead to real-life meetups, they require extra care:

  • Event information (location, time, capacity, participation conditions) must be accurate and complete.
  • Events that involve illegal activity, take place in unauthorized areas or put participants at risk are prohibited.
  • Do not use an event as a front for commercial sales, multi-level marketing or a promotional trap.
  • Do not ask participants for identity documents, financial information or intimate content.
  • Choose crowded, public places for meetups; if you do not feel safe, leave the event and report the situation to us.

5. Messaging Rules

Direct messages are your private space; however, these guidelines apply there as well. Threats, harassment, unwanted sexual messages, spam and fraud attempts are also prohibited in messaging. You can block and report a user who bothers you.

6. What Happens When the Guidelines Are Violated?

We apply a proportionate sanction depending on the severity of the violation, whether it is repeated and the intent behind it:

Situation Possible sanction
Minor or first-time violation Removal of the content and a warning
Repeated violations Temporary restriction of certain features (posting, messaging, events)
Serious violation Temporary suspension of the account
Severe violation (child exploitation, threats of violence, non-consensual intimate images, terrorist propaganda) Permanent closure of the account without prior notice and, where necessary, reporting to the competent authorities

7. Reporting and Appeals

Reporting: You can report content or a user you find in breach of the guidelines using the "Report" option next to the relevant content, or by writing to info@charqe.io. We review reports within a reasonable time; reports involving danger to life, child exploitation or threats of violence are handled with priority. The user you report is not told who reported them.

Appeals: If you believe a decision taken about you is wrong, you can apply to info@charqe.io after the decision has been notified to you. We will review your application and inform you of the outcome. If the decision was wrong, we will restore your content and your account's access.

8. Tools to Protect Yourself

  • Private account: Require your approval for anyone who wants to follow you.
  • Blocking: Completely cut off a user's interaction with you.
  • Restricting: Limit a user's interactions without making it obvious that you have done so.
  • Close friends: Share your stories only with the people you choose.
  • Location sharing: Off by default; you can turn it off at any time under Settings > Privacy.
  • Event invitations: You can turn off receiving invitations entirely.

9. Updates to the Guidelines

As our community and app evolve, we may update these guidelines. Material changes will be announced within the App or by email before they take effect.
